Believe on the Lord Jesus

In the New Testament we read, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.” Have you obeyed this command?

Now I am not asking if you attend a church that teaches the message of Jesus and agree with it. Nor am I asking if you believe in Jesus in some vague religious way. Men often honor God with their lips, but their heart is far from him (Matt. 15:8). Their lips and their heart point in different directions. My question is, are you playing or dead-serious when it comes to believing on Jesus?

We would think it strange if a man pursued a woman for his wife, and she professed that she believed he was the right one, yet never accepted his engagement ring and never went to the altar. She never took that step of faith which proves that she really believes he is the right one. Yet this is the kind of faith that many have in Jesus. They talk positively about him and say he is the right way, but they never get serious. They never make a no-turning-back commitment.

So how does a man get serious about believing on Jesus? A man gets serious when his eyes are opened to the fact that the whole world is lost and on the road to hell, that he himself is a guilty sinner, stuck in his sins and hell-bound, that religion can’t save him, and that Jesus alone is THE answer. “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
